Columbus firefighters battled a blaze at an oil refinery Tuesday night.
As the massive fire intensified, fire officials notified authorities at Columbus International Airport, NBC4i reported.
Crews received the call about 8 p.m. and it took at least two hours to control. However, they remained on the scene hitting hotspots and cooling tanks.
Division of Fire Deputy Chief Jeffery Geiter explained: “We’re in the process of identifying exactly what was on fire. Hazmat is just trying to identify what the product could be. And then it’s what precautionary measures, if needed, we would take, you know, to keep the environment safe.”
